COVID-19 continues to plague Midwestern Ontario

Huron Perth Public Health added 22 new cases of COVID 19 Tuesday, including five in South Huron, six in Stratford, and four in North Perth. There have now been 25 fatalities. Eight long term care homes and three retirement homes are battling outbreaks. A new outbreak has been declared at Fordwich Village.

Outbreaks continue at Seaforth Manor, Braemar Nursing Home in Wingham, Exeter Villa, Greenwood Court in Stratford, Knollcrest Lodge in Perth East, and Wildwood Care Centre in St. Marys. Outbreaks at retirement homes include Caressant Care in North Perth and Livingston Manor in North Perth as well as the Exeter Villa retirement home.

Grey Bruce health Unit added six new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, one each in Kincardine, Southgate, West Grey, Hanover, South Bruce and Blue Mountains. There are 52 active cases and one probable case, along with 157 high risk contacts. Two people are in hospital. There are no outbreaks and there have been no fatalities in Grey Bruce.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health added another 35 cases of COVID-19 Tuesday. There are 452 active cases and five people are hospitalized. There have been 55 fatalities.

Ten of the new cases cases were in Wellington County along with two hospitalizations. There have been seven fatalities. There are 80 active cases. Caressant Care in Harriston is now following outbreak protocol after a staff member was listed by public health as testing positive.  The outbreak at Royal Terrace in Palmerston was declared over January 10.
