Bruce County Museum offers virtual field trips

The Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre has rebooted their Education Centre, offering online resources, and new digital field trips for classrooms.

A media release says Museum education staff have been reimagining educational resources and virtual field trips this past fall in response to the pandemic. Currently two virtual education programs are available: “A Virtual Day in the Life of a Pioneer Child” and “Earth’s Climate in the Balance”. The Museum website has been restructured to allow for easier searching of materials educators are looking for.

The museum hopes the update is providing educators with easier access to information, more digital resources for teachers teaching online, and those in the classroom that would like to visit but cannot.

“The BCM&CC strives to support the communities we serve. During these challenging times we felt it was important to provide new and accessible resources and programs to our educators to assist with varied learning environments. The goal is to be a one stop shop for educators needs to provide resources for online, printable, in school and when we are able for in Museum programming.” says Cathy McGirr, Director, Museum & Cultural Services.

The museum is closed to the public under the provincial shutdown until January 25, 2021, but Education Coordinator Mike Schwindt, can be reached directly 226-909-3072 and mschwindt@brucecounty.on.ca to answer any questions or book virtual field trips through the new Education Centre at brucemuseum.ca.
