Short on child care options in Huron County

Huron County's Entrepreneur and Business Coach says there's a serious shortage of quality child care options for parents in Huron County.

The Huron County Economic Development Department and Huron County Children's Services have been working very closely over the last couple of months to address that problem.

Patrick Donnelly says there are currently at least ten contracts waiting to be filled by people who are interested in becoming home child care providers.

"So Huron County Economic Development and the Children's Services Department have been working really closely together over the past couple of months to design and deliver a new program that's really designed to give people all the information they need to be informed on the process of being approved as a home child care provider," said Donnelly. "There are two additional dates each week after that, covering topics areas like book keeping and taxes, the policies and procedures for being a contract child care operator. So, it starts with the information session and those that are interested after hearing what the process is like, can come to the next two sessions for further information."

More information about the program can be found on the Huron County Economic Development web site or a link to register for the information session can be found at Huron Economic Development on eventbrite.ca.

The next information session is on January 12th at five in the evening.
