Two arrested after man threatened with knife

Thanks to the help from members of the public, police have arrested two men after another man was threatened with a knife in downtown Owen Sound.

The Owen Sound Police Service said on Tuesday at around 12:45 p.m., two men pulled a large knife on another man outside of a small eatery in the area of 2nd Avenue East near 9th Street East.  The two men made threatening gestures with the knife but the incident ended without anyone being injured.

"Citizens and store owners who witnessed the incident immediately called the Owen Sound Police Service and provided details including descriptions of the men involved as well as photos they had taken of the suspects," police said in a news release.

With the public's help, officers were able to arrest two suspects just one block away from where the incident took place. Police allegedly found the men to be in possession of weapons, which were seized by officers.

A 25-year-old man and a 29-year-old man from Owen Sound are facing several unspecified weapon charges.  The men are being held in custody for bail, police said.

The incident remains under investigation and police are asking the male victim to contact police.

Anyone with information about the victim or regarding the incident is asked to contact police at 519-376-1234.
