Bayfield looking for more filming experiences

Members of a film crew of about one hundred people that spent a week in Bayfield in October said it had been a very productive week and were very pleased with what Bayfield had to offer.

Huron County Economic Development Director, Cody Joudry, agrees and adds Huron County in general has a lot to offer the filming industry and his department is working hard to get that message out.

Joudry says film makers have gradually started going outside of the GTA to areas like Hamilton and Cambridge, but for the most part, they haven't discovered Huron County yet.

"One of the advantages that Huron County has is many filming locations all within short driving distance of each other. You can go from classic town to the country to picturesque water, so I think we have a lot of assets to offer, but we haven't been on the filming industry radar," said Joudry. "The interesting thing about film for us is that filming is often done in the shoulder seasons of tourism and not in the dead season of tourism, which makes it good for us because we need to bolster tourism before the summer and after the summer to help our tourism industry."

The hope is that the experience of the crew that was here for a week in October might change that.
