COVID-19 outbreak at Wellington County retirement community

A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at Birmingham Retirement Community in Mount Forest, where one staff member tested positive.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public health reported Wellington County had 29 new cases confirmed Monday, and now has 63 active cases. The Rural Wellington COVID-19 Assessment Centre has tested 7,633 people from April 21 to November 12, 2020, and 0.73 per cent of those came back positive.

Overall, Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public health added 75 confirmed cases of COVID-19 to the list on Monday, for a total of 152 active cases. Two people are in hospital. There have been a total of 1231 cases in the area, and 38 fatalities, three of them in Wellington.

There are no outbreaks in Schools or Daycares. Wellington Dufferin Guelph remains in the Orange-Restrict level for public health measures.
