Cougar sightings reported in parts of Goderich

Huron County OPP is advising the public to be on the lookout after receiving multiple reports of a possible cougar roaming around in Goderich.

Police were first notified of the sighting on Thursday evening, a citizen reported they saw the animal on the Maitland Trail in the Maitland Road South area before it disappeared into the bushes.

On Friday, another eyewitness reported seeing a similar animal near Maple Street and Cambridge Street. The alleged big cat was last seen walking south on Maple Street near Regent Street.

Police are advising anyone who sees an animal that fits the description of a cougar to not approach it but instead, call OPP immediately at 1-888-310-1122.
