New VON nurse Practitioner coming to Southampton

Saugeen Shores hopes an expanded nurse practitioner program at the Southampton Medical Building will meet the needs of community members without a healthcare provider.

The town has announced that the VON Nurse Practitioner Clinic will be expanding with a second nurse practitioner to begin practicing at VON’s Nurse Practitioner Clinic in the early months of 2021.

VON’s addition of a second full-time nurse practitioner will offer residents of Saugeen Shores and surrounding areas increased access to primary healthcare services as well as some urgent care to people living in and visiting the area

People can register with Health Care Connect at Ontario.ca/HealthCareConnect rather than call the Southampton Medical Building.

“We look forward to having an additional nurse practitioner practicing in Saugeen Shores and hope to expand the program to include more nurse practitioners in the future,” said Shari Comerford, National Director Nurse Practitioner Professional Practice at VON. “This partnership is an investment in providing residents and visitors of Saugeen Shores with timely access to primary healthcare.”

Comerford said VON’s Nurse Practitioner Program in the Town of Saugeen Shores is focused on giving residents increased access to the healthcare they need, locally, where they need it.

“We are pleased to expand our partnership with VON,” said Mayor Luke Charbonneau. “Nurse practitioners are an important part of our community’s healthcare and together we are working to ensure everyone in Saugeen Shores has access to the care they need.”
