A Kitchener man is facing a slew of charges relating to theft, drugs, and weapons, after a traffic stop in Arthur.
Wellington County OPP stopped a motorcycle on George Street at about 3pm Sunday, when the driver allegedly attempted to flee the scene. After a brief struggle, officers were able to arrest the man and it was revealed the motorcycle was stolen from Oxford county.
Police spoke with the driver and determined that he was displaying signs of drug impairment, and conducted further testing at a local OPP Operation Centre.
Police discovered the accused was in possession of a stolen handgun, ammunition, a switchblade knife, and a quantity of Fentanyl.
The 41 year old from Kitchener is facing a total of 15 charges:
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon
- Resist Peace Officer
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance-Fentanyl
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/Ammunition
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon (2 counts)
- Operation While Impaired by Drug
- Operation While Prohibited Under the Criminal Code
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
- Fail to Comply with Undertaking
- Fail to Stop for Police
- Drive while Under Suspension (2 counts)
