Digital plan to help recovery in Huron County

Huron County Economic Development has created a Digital Service Squad to help local main street businesses take advantage of digital technologies.

Entrepreneur and Business Program Coordinator and Recovery Team Member, Brittany Wise, says the pandemic has really pointed out the importance of an online presence. They feel the creation of the Digital Service Team will better position small, local businesses to compete in an increasingly digital world.

It will also take advantage of the record number of people now shopping online.

“It, during the pandemic, has been very much brought to light and it's very important, so we feel through this program, our businesses will be better positioned to compete in an increasingly digital world and really be able to take advantage of the record number of people shopping online,” said Wise. "It's going to change the way that consumers behave. So I think that the more businesses can be using this and I think COVID has just brought it to light that we are increasingly digital and we need to be using these platforms if we want to be able to compete.”

Wise says through the program, small, local businesses will receive one on one coaching at no cost to help them improve their online presence.

Wise says any small business owners can get more information about the program and how join by going to the Huron County web site, under Economic Development and they can also learn more about the Digital Service Launch event that's being held Thursday at 2 p.m.
