Outpatient Lab services move to Kincardine Hospital

Kincardine residents will see a change in outpatient laboratory services next week.

It's being moved from the Hawthorne Community Clinic to the Kincardine hospital.

Starting Monday, September 21, people will need to go to a new location for Community Lab Collections service that was created within the hospital , just inside the main entrance.

Appointments are required and can be booked by calling Patient Registration at the hospital between the hours of 8:00-4:00 PM at 519-396-3331 ext. 0.

The transition of outpatient lab services to private labs was one of the budget recovery strategies implemented by SBGHC in 2019, as private providers such as Life Labs and Dynacare are funded by the government for outpatient lab testing, whereas SBGHC is not.

“SBGHC is changing outpatient lab providers in Kincardine from Life Labs to Dynacare to ensure consistency across all four SBGHC sites. The Walkerton, Chesley and Durham sites are currently serviced by Dynacare. With this change in Kincardine, we are moving the location of outpatient services from the Hawthorne Community Clinic to a location right inside the front door of the Kincardine hospital,” explained Michael Barrett, SBGHC President & CEO.

Kincardine was the first site to transition to a private lab in March 2019 when it moved to Life Labs. The Chesley, Durham and Walkerton sites transitioned to Dynacare in July 2019.
