OPP end search for missing wind surfer/paddle boarder

On September 15th at 7:37 p.m. Grey Bruce OPP were dispatched to a possible missing wind surfer/paddle boarder in Lake Huron, near Lakeshore Boulevard and Sixth Street North, at Sauble Beach, ON.

Several witnesses on shore, reported seeing a lone wind surfer/paddle boarder, wearing a wetsuit, who appeared to be in distress, about 100 metres out from shore. This person did not appear to make it back to shore, but that has not been confirmed at that time. A land and water search was initiated.

On September 16th, an OPP helicopter along with JRCC helicopter extensively searched the water and shoreline of the involved area.

Grey Bruce OPP conducted follow up interviews with the witnesses, and additional witnesses that came forward, it is believed that the person made it back to shore safely.
