Owen Sound launches Music at the Market

The City of Owen Sound is offering Music at the Market starting today.

Visitors to the downtown can enjoy local talent at a free, physically distanced lunchtime concert at the Owen Sound Farmers’ Market square.

The weekly series will run runs weekly, every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Music at the Market website will highlight lunchtime meal options from local eateries, so grab your favourite takeout and enjoy the music!

The series is aimed at bringing people downtown, and was supported by the Federal Economic Development Agency of Ontario and the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario.  The City of Owen Sound was a recipient of a $150,000 Tourism Industry of Ontario and FedDev Ontario grant to support “hyper-local” tourism initiatives. The Farmers’ Market Square was completed in 2019 as Phase One of the Downtown River Precinct revitalization initiative.

The City of Owen Sound has worked with Public Health to ensure all guidelines are followed, with plenty of space between tables, and physical distancing being monitored by Owen Sound Ambassadors.

People can enjoy live performances from Coco Love Alcorn, The Beckett’s, Higher FunKtion, Larry Jensen with Pete Devlin, Emma Wright, The MacKenzie Blues Band, Shipyard Kitchen Party, Bobby Dean Blackburn and Friends, Emma Wright, Marshall Dane and many more. Full lineup details and local restaurant options can be found at www.musicatthemarket.ca.

“Arts and music are a vital part of Owen Sound’s cultural community. We are excited to hit “Play” again with the Lunchtime Concert Series. I encourage residents and visitors to come and enjoy our artists, small businesses and restaurants that make our downtown a vibrant and inclusive destination,” said Mayor Ian Boddy
