Wingham Youth Ministry Director facing sex related charges

A Youth Ministry director from Wingham is facing sexual assault and other sex-related charges.

Huron OPP said on Monday the charges stem from an investigation into incidents alleged to have happened this year involving a teenager.

Police said the accused is a Youth Ministry director for a church in Wingham and also runs a faith-based youth program in the town.

Twenty-nine-year-old Simon Chiarello of Wingham is charged with seven counts of sexual assault and seven counts of sexual exploitation. East Algoma OPP arrested Chiarello on September 10. He is in custody and is due in Goderich court at a future date.
