Central Huron BIA taking notes from Seaforth downtown construction

Members of the Central Huron BIA are closely monitoring the construction on the main street in Seaforth this summer.

Chair Sandra Garnet explains they will be going through the same exercise starting next spring.

Garnet says the main street will be torn up from the lights at the main intersection to the China Palace at the north end to replace the water pipes. The BIA is working with the town and business people to make sure the businesses can still operate in a way that's safe for their customers.

"You won't be able to access a front door for maybe one or two days, tops, like when they're tearing it out and then they're putting it back together. But a lot of our back door entrances aren't very welcoming or safe for customers," said Garnet.

Garnet says they're watching what the people in Seaforth are doing and hoping they can follow their model and she's hoping to sit down soon with Huron East Economic Development Officer, Jan Hawley, to find out how they've been able to do it.

"They have done an amazing job and i'd like to take the lessons that she's learned and the high points, like the weekly newsletter, letting everybody know, those are just things that are key to keeping us business people informed," added Garnet.
