Police in Wellington County were called to a business in Mount Forest after a suspected gunshot was fired through the window.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. Saturday at a restaurant on Main Street North. Following a preliminary investigation, officers determined that a single projectile, believed to be a bullet pierced the storefront window before it came to rest on the floor.

Members of the OPP confirmed there were staff, and customers inside the restaurant when the alleged shot was fired, but no one was injured. Officers canvassed nearby homes in the surrounding rural area, and suspect someone may have been target shooting around the time the incident occurred.

Police believe the incident is isolated, and say there is no threat to public safety at this time, though Wellington County OPP and the Forensic Identification Unit continue to investigate.
