COVID-19 Cases jump in Huron Perth

There are now 26 active cases of COVID-19 in Huron and Perth Counties. That's double the number of cases from Monday and was predicted by Medical Officer of Health Dr. Miriam Klassen.

In response to a number of households with symptomatic residents, public health officials conducted testing over the weekend.   Klassen commends Huron County EMS and the Stratford General Hospital Emergency Department for their quick response and aid in performing increased testing over the weekend.

Klassen says the newest cases are related to a workplace outbreak at the Zehrs Country Markets south of Bayfield and in Dashwood and many of them are clustered within one or two households. She added these cases are also connected to a larger spread of cases across Southwestern Ontario.

On Tuesday, Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health reported no new and no active cases in Wellington County over the past 24 hours.

The Grey Bruce Public Health Unit reports no new cases again today.  There are still six active cases, and one possible case under investigation.
