Grey Roots Museum to reopen soon with new exhibits

Grey Roots Museum and Archives will reopen its doors to visitors on September 16.

Like just about everything else, the facility south of Owen Sound has been closed since March because of the COVID-19 shutdown.  New Manager Jill Paterson has only been on the job since mid-April so she's faced plenty of challenges.  She said visitors will have a very different experience at the museum due to obvious safety measures.

"We'll have lots of enhanced sanitation going on at the museum, screening when people come in and we're looking at doing appointments like booked time so people can come and visit just to make sure that we stagger our attendance throughout the day and make sure everybody is able to socially distance and stay as safe as possible," said Paterson.

Two new exhibits are set to open.  Simple Machines looks at the physics behind things as simple as a door and how they make our lives better.  And Voices of Grey brings to life the stories of Grey County citizens past and present.

As well, people can enjoy Grey Roots' permanent exhibits and stroll through Moreston Heritage Village.
