Survey to identify needs in post COVID-19 time

Huron County's Economic Development Department is collaborating with the University of Guelph, the Perth Huron United Way and Perth County on a survey of residents in the two counties into how COVID-19 has impacted them.

Economic Development Officer Alex Ripley said they're specifically looking at a few issues.

"So we're looking to identify how has this affected people economically, are populations newly vulnerable, how has it impacted populations that were already vulnerable, as well as what priorities should municipalities be looking at from a programming perspective as we move into the post-COVID era," said Ripley. "Should they be having a particular look at mental health, income levels, food security, education and so on. And also, the other thing is we're really looking to identify emergent mental health and economic concerns that have been generated by COVID-19."

The survey will be mailed out to everyone in Huron County and that will likely start sometime next week.

The survey will also be available through a link on the Huron County Economic Development Department website and that should be available later this week.

Ripley said people can choose to use either the mail-in survey or the online survey.

Both options will be available for about a month and they expect to be able to release results later this fall.
