HPPH provides statement on events during Stage 3

As Stage 3 re-openings continue throughout Ontario, Huron Perth Public Health has received questions and comments in regards to large organized events planned or occurring locally.

HPPH does not approve or deny the holding of large organized events – the Health Unit’s role is to ensure that the guidance and protocols outlined by the province are followed.

“The role of the local public health unit is to work with the event operator, before and during the event, to ensure that proper public health measures are being followed. Public health does have the ability to intervene and impose restrictions during the event if public health measures are not being followed”, says Dr. Miriam Klassen, Medical Officer of Health.

Businesses and sectors unable to open or facing significant difficulties in operating under Stage 3 restrictions can visit Ontario.ca/reopen to work with the province on a reopening plan.
