Wingham trailer park future to be discussed

The future of the trailer park in Wingham will be up for discussion Monday night at North Huron council.

According to a report that will be tabled at the council meeting, there have been two requests about the sale of the property for possible residential development. North Huron has also undertaken some environmental studies on the property on the west side of Wingham and the results of those studies will be presented.

However, the Wingham Legion has expressed interest in continuing to operate the trailer park and if Council wishes to proceed with the sale and development of the property, a Notice of Termination of the Operating Agreement must be provided Friday.

North Huron would also have to complete a number of other steps in order to sell the property including declaring it surplus, sever and retain a portion of the property that is designated floodplain and ensure the community trail still connects to Victoria Street.

A petition with 415 signatures in favour of keeping the trailer park has been submitted.

Monday's meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the North Huron council chambers
