UPDATE: Avon Maitland school board asking parents to complete survey

The Avon-Maitland District School Board has issued a letter to families as a return to school plan evolves.

The first step is for families to preregister any student that is in an elementary or secondary grade. Each family is being asked for their intentions for either in-person or online learning as well as busing.

Once that information is gathered, then a full plan will be put into place.

A link to the survey is being emailed to parents Wednesday with the deadline to complete set for August 12.

However, on Wednesday afternoon the board says it discovered there are missing email addresses for about 900 parents. Staff is making phone calls to get that information and working on a way parents can provide the information over the phone.

Parents are encouraged to check the board's "back-to-school updates" page on its website and follow the Avon Maitland District School Board on social media

A letter from the board to parents outlines expectations for students, staff and the school when it comes to personal protective equipment, hand washing, cleaning, physical distancing and all preventative measures being taken for the school year.

The full letter can be seen by clicking here.

Classes are expected to begin on September 8.
