Between The Lines Sports Campus set to open in Listowel

A new 30,000 square foot sports complex is nearly ready to open in Listowel.

The Between The Lines Sports Campus is almost set to open its doors, and owner and founder Trevor Reading says it's been a long process from coming up with the idea to now having the building ready for business.

"We began our process about 18 months to 2 years ago. We just thought that in the area there isn't enough facilities available for personal training, private training, and our biggest focus was the seniors have nowhere to go."

Reading, who started the project with wife Jill and other members of the family, says the facility is located at 275 Rocher Road in Listowel’s south end, in the North Perth Industrial Park. With seniors in mind, there are some courts available that should interest them.

"We have a section that is pickleball, badminton, and then we can convert that over into a volleyball court. Out in another section we have a yoga studio, and with social distancing going on we can comfortably place 10 to 12 people in there. It has a fireplace for the hot yoga, as well, and it's a meeting room with a large TV in it, too."

The facility also features a large 2 lane walking track roughly .6 kilometres long, or the length of a soccer pitch. Speaking of soccer, Reading notes the facility also houses something for that sport, too.

"We have a full futsal field that's about 120x70. You can play 5-a-side quite nicely, or for the younger groups, like thew U-10s, you can turn the field sideways and have 2 games going at once. We also have 2 batting cages."

That still isn't all. Between The Lines also features a synthetic 800 square foot ice pad, and there are plans in the works to get a skating treadmill. Also, there will be a space for the new location of the Listowel’s Our Town CrossFit branch. The facility also has a memorial for the 7 people who lost their lives in the Listowel Memorial Arena collapse in 1959.

For now the facility will operate on a drop-in basis during the COVID-19 pandemic, and rates and schedules or more information can be found on http://betweenthelines.ca, and the facility also has a Facebook and Instagram Page. You can call Between The Lines Sports Campus at 519-444-8211 or email the facility at Info@BTLSports.ca.
