North Huron fitness centre reopening

The Township of North Huron will reopen the Fitness Centre at the North Huron Wescast Community Complex Tuesday, August 4, 2020.

Although the provincial government allowed regions like Huron-Perth to enter Stage 3 of the Province’s Reopening Plan as early as July 17, the Township wanted to take time to conduct a thorough review of provincial restrictions, Public Health requirements, health and safety procedures, and re-opening guidelines related to fitness centres to ensure the safety of all residents and employees is maintained.

All fitness centres must be able to restrict the size of public gatherings and meet physical distancing requirements.

Participants must pre-book their workout ahead of time, and use hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer stations have been established throughout the facility. People should be dressed to work out as change rooms remain closed.

The equipment has been moved within the facility, and users will be screened for illnesses.

Day pass usage is not available at this time and all other areas of the North Huron Wescast Community Complex remain closed.  A staged re-opening is being planned for the Fall.

“The safety of our residents and staff has remained the number one priority throughout the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Reeve Bailey. “While visitors to the Fitness Centre at the North

Huron Wescast Community Complex can expect an altered experience compared to pre- COVID-19 operations, the Township is confident that these necessary changes will allow all participants to enjoy North Huron’s Fitness Centre in a safe and cautious manner
