Police investigate multiple fires in Stratford

An investigation is underway after crews responded to three overnight fires in Stratford.

Police and fire crews arrived at a building on Brunswick Street shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday. Following the incident, officers were notified of two more suspicious fires that were reported near Huron Street and O'Loane Avenue.

Firefighters were able to extinguish all three fires, and there were no injuries. Damages were minimal to the structures near Huron and O'Loane, while the cost of damages to the building on Brunswick is reportedly over $1 million.

Brunswick Street was closed-off between Downie Street and Waterloo Street and there was limited vehicle access to Albert Street while crews investigated.

Officials are not sure if the other two fires are related to the one on Brunswick, but they are looking for a person of interest. Police are searching for a white male, between 5'9" and 6', with a shaved head, and medium build, who was observed wearing a black tank top, and baggy jeans. The man in question was last seen in the area of Franklin Drive and Buckingham Street on Saturday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Stratford police at 519-271-4141, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
