Bruce County offering grants for businesses to purchase safety supplies

Bruce County is offering grants to local businesses to help by safety supplies to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

The new $250,000 in funding is part of the Support the Bruce: Business Sustainability Fund, and businesses can apply for grants of up to $1,500 to help purchase supplies through the new Business Safety Supplies Grant.

Businesses can use the funds to purchase Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), hard surface disinfectants, hand sanitizers and methods to ensure physical distancing such as floor decals.

The grants will be administered by the Bruce Community Futures Development Corporation (BCFDC) and the Saugeen Economic Development Corporation (SEDC). Businesses can apply directly to BCFDC at bruce.on.ca or SEDC at sbdc.ca. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the $250,000 in funding has been distributed.

Bruce County Warden Mitch Twolan said, “on top of the significant financial losses that many local businesses have experienced due to COVID-19, there’s also the added strain of the cost to purchase additional safety supplies. Bruce County Council is proud to support local entrepreneurs by offsetting the purchasing costs required to keep residents safe.”
