Health unit providing discussion guides and support for mask policies

Starting on Friday, face masks or covering will be required in all indoor commercial establishments in Huron and Perth.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Miriam Klassen said they are providing supports for employers, such as sample policy posters, a discussion guide and more so that they can implement the instructions.

"The instructions require owner/operators of these places to implement a policy for the use of masks or face coverings, including the expectation that people entering or remaining in an indoor commercial or public space will wear a face covering," said Dr. Klassen.

She added for visitors and customers, owners and operators are required to make their best efforts to require people entering or remaining in their premises to wear a face covering. Best efforts include having a policy that requests people to wear a face-covering as well as posting signage and training employees on the policy.

More information on the new face mask regulations can be found on the Huron Perth Public Health web site.

Meanwhile, Huron-Perth's Medical Officer of Health will host a Facebook Live session on Thursday afternoon answering questions on several issues, including wearing face masks and coverings in indoor and public spaces.

Dr. Klassen plans to try and answer as many questions as possible during the stream, which starts at 2:15 p.m.
