COVID-19 cases still minimal in region

Reported cases of COVID-19 in the region continue to be minimal.

The Grey-Bruce Health Unit reported one new case late Thursday, but it's been referred to another health unit as the patient lives out of the area. That health unit was not specified in the report.

Overall there are two active cases in Grey and Bruce with 107 recovered cases.

In Huron and Perth, there have been 52 recovered cases as the cumulative total of confirmed cases remained at 58 as of late Thursday.

In both regions, there are currently no outbreaks in long term care homes.

Both health agencies have signalled their intent to order face masks mandatory in enclosed spaces including retail and offices. Huron Perth Public Health has issued a July 17 start date for the order. Earlier this week, the Grey Bruce Health Unit issued a notice of intent to make masks mandatory after a 10 day consultation period, which would put the order in place at roughly the same time.
