Huron County supporting business

Huron County's Economic Development Department has launched a program to help Huron County businesses get back up and running as they recover from COVID-19.

Entrepreneur and Business Coach Patrick Donnelly said the goal is to encourage consumer confidence in shopping locally and providing business owners with information on what steps they have to take to re-open safely.

Donnell said training is provided through the Ready to Re-open program.

"The training itself is fairly general. It provides a really general overview of what a business should consider, no matter what the industry is. But we also provide businesses that register for the program with a tool kit that has links to sector-specific information as well," said Donnelly.

Donnelly said the program is delivered through a one-hour webinar. Along with a toolkit and guidance documents, it is designed to inform businesses about what reasonable steps should be taken when reopening and how to make their workplaces safe for employees and customers.

"The most effective thing to do is physical distancing, so maintaining that six feet or two metres of distance. If you're not able to do that there are other control measures to be put in place and those include plexiglass barriers, arrows on the floor to regulate the flow of traffic. Those are engineering controls that can help," said Donnelly.
