Saugeen Shores analyzing surveys for COVID-19 recovery

Saugeen Shores continues to work with economic recovery related to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Saugeen Shores Strong Economic Recovery Strategy outlines a number of initiatives that are taking place. That includes collecting surveys from multiple groups about their needs moving forward. Staff will take the information and narrow down some recommendations for the town to pursue.

"Council and staff are hard at work to support our local businesses as they contend with the pandemic's effects on nearly every aspect of their operations," said Mayor Luke Charbonneau. "The measures Council is putting in place now and in the coming weeks, in consultation with business leaders and staff, will help our community's recovery in a number of critical areas."

The full strategy is outlined on the town's website.

Some of the initiatives include an additional $30,000 for the Spruce the Bruce Grant Program, the deferral of development charges for developers and a tentative five-month agreement with the Southampton Arts Centre to operate the Southampton Visitor Centre to promote tourism.
