Goderich beaches can close again if physical distancing not maintained

Goderich Mayor John Grace has released a statement, saying while the main beach has reopened, and Rotary Cove reopens next Monday, council can close both areas again if visitors are non-compliant with social distancing.

He says the town maintains a strict policy to ensure the well being of the community, and that applies to all facilities and public areas.

St Christopher’s beach to Rotary Cove will open to the public on June 29th with specific areas closed for construction.

The town has hired interim bylaw officers to enforce municipal bylaws only, and local OPP will be responsible for enforcement of social distancing with monitoring and education as set out by the province.

Goderich continues to work with Huron Perth Public Health in conjunction with the County of Huron on all aspects regarding the reopening of municipal services, facilities, and outreach to our businesses.
