Former Port Elgin Pumpkinfest president facing child luring charges

Former Port Elgin Pumpkinfest President Brad Scott is facing child luring and child pornography charges.

Peel Regional Police, with help from Waterloo Regional Police, arrested Scott last Thursday.

Officers from the Internet Child Exploitation Unit conducted an investigation between June 17, 2019 and June 11, 2020, and are now accusing Scott of luring someone he believed to be under 16.

Police said the suspect used the following display and usernames on various messaging and social media platforms: John with a smiley face emoji; John Snyde, MaverickKW79, and Kwguy34@gmail.com.

Scott is charged with luring a child to commit invitation to sexual touching, luring a child to distribute sexually explicit material and luring a child to attempt to make child pornography.

In wake of the allegations, the board of directors for Port Elgin's Pumpkinfest immediately removed Scott from his role as president.
