Curbside pick-up now available at West Grey library

The West Grey Public Library has finalized its preparations for curbside pick-up, and patrons can call to place orders now.

May 14th’s announcement from the provincial government-specified curbside pick-up only as part of the first phase of re-opening provincial businesses and services.

Beginning Tuesday, June 2nd, patrons may select and request materials, books, and up to 5 DVDs.

Returns will be made through the drop-box only and fines will be waived during this period. All returned items will be quarantined for 72 hours.

Staff is happy to make book suggestions if requested. Patrons with holds currently in the Durham branch will be called for pick-up.

“We will have 15-minute appointments to start, Wednesday through Friday, 10 am to 2 pm,” explains CEO Kim Storz. “There is a step-by-step process to maintain physical distancing.”

Starting Wednesday June 10, curbside pick-up begins. Once requested items are ready to go, staff will contact patrons with instructions and a curbside pick-up time. Currently, pick-up will be available Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays, 10 am to 2 pm. On July 2, the next phase starts: curbside pick-up in Neustadt and Ayton.

“This is part of a staged re-opening process, and it’s also an evolving process. If we encounter problems, we’ll keep adjusting until it’s as smooth as we can get it,” says Storz. “The Library will also relaunch its Homebound delivery service to private residences soon.”

The Library continues to issue 3-month temporary cards, which will let users get online loans of e-books and audiobooks on services like Overdrive and the Libby app, available for electronic devices, by phone 519-369-2107 or by email info@westgreylibrary.com.
