Warmer weather encouraging outdoor activities

Dr. Miriam Klassen, Medical Officer of Health, Huron Perth Public Health.

Huron and Perth’s Medical Officer of Health says the recent warm weather is encouraging people to get out and enjoy the many parks and outdoor recreation areas that are now open.

But Dr. Mariam Klassen is also reminding people who do go outdoors to continue to observe some of the restrictions that made the opening possible.

“Remember that you cannot gather in groups of more than five people, unless they’re all from the same household and it’s still important that people not share food and drinks with people who are outside of their household and not invite people into your household,” said Klassen.

Klassen also reminds people, when they are outside, to maintain a two-metre distance from people who are not in their household.

She points out, the order restricting gatherings of more than five people remains in place until May 29th but adds the province is currently looking at how that number might be expanded. Klassen says an announcement on that is expected either this week or next.
