Bayfield ward councillor Bill Whetstone is the chair of Bluewater's new Recovery Economic Venture committee.
Whetstone says the REV committee was formed to identify what the municipality can do to help the agriculture, tourism and manufacturing sectors recover from COVID-19.
Some of the discussion for the advisory group will centre around how some areas have been impacted, what their concerns are for the short term, intermediate term and long term. And the group will also talk about how the municipality can help them address those concerns.
Whetstone says one of the challenges for the committee is the speed at which the situation is changing. Since the committee was put together, parks and golf courses and stores were given the green light to open, so the needs are changing very quickly.
Whetstone says, at this point, it's important that people are confident they'll be safe in coming to Bayfield and communications is critical in letting people know what is closed and what is open and for what hours.
Whetstone says a lot of restaurants have already opened because they can do take out and some stores in Bayfield are opening this week, with customers allowed to walk through the stores as long as they observe the controls that have been put in place.
