Stratford police seek St. Mary's man wanted on mischief charges

Police in Stratford are searching for a man after several incidents were reported in St. Mary's over the weekend.

On Friday evening, Matthew Weesies allegedly damaged a residence on Wellington St. South in St. Mary's by throwing rocks at the house. A portion of the siding and a window was broken as a result of the incident. Police were called but were unable to locate Weesies.

The 36-year-old was observed again on Saturday night at another residence in St. Mary's on Huron St. South. Weesies had previously been charged for a separate incident at that address and was on a release condition and told not to attend the home. The suspect fled by the time officers arrived.

Police were called to the same Huron St. address on Sunday morning and were told Weesies had allegedly broken a window and assaulted one of the residents. The victim sustained no physical injuries, and the suspect was able to evade police for a third time.

Weesies is facing numerous charges including two counts of Mischief under $5,000, two counts of Breach of Undertaking, Trespass by Night, and Assault.

Anyone with information regarding Weesies’ whereabouts is asked to contact Stratford police at 519-271-4141, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
