Charges laid after thwarted break-in attempt

Huron County OPP say they caught a man allegedly breaking into an unoccupied residence in Wingham.

At about 11:30pm Tuesday night, an officer noticed a suspicious person on Josephine Street.

The officer tracked the male’s footprints through the snow, which led him to an unoccupied residence. Back up officers then arrived on scene, and the male was taken into custody.

Police found him to be in possession of break-in tools, and suspected methamphetamine.

A 38 year old from Morris-Turnberry is facing several charges, including break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, possession of break-in tools, and possession of methamphetamine.

He’s been released from custody with a June court date.
