A portion of the North Shore Trail in Saugeen Shores has been closed due to severe damage from wave action.
With higher lake levels continuing into the summer, the section of trail between Concession 10 and North Shore Park in Port Elgin will remain completely closed for the time being.
Barricades have been erected around some of the most damaged portions, which include sinkholes and partial collapsing of the concrete-covered path due to erosion.
Town staff will evaluate whether it can be partially opened for safe use during the summer.
