Kincardine Scottish Festival is cancelled for 2020

The Kincardine Scottish Festival has had to make the unfortunate decision to cancel this year’s event.

Festival President, Tony Doherty, says this is due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the uncertainty surrounding what safety measures will be in place come July.

“We would be compromising the health and safety of everybody in the community. Our families, the participants, the entertainers, and the public at large,” said Doherty.

Doherty realizes there will be ramifications to the local community.

“The business community is already struggling as it is right now, and this is not going to be a help to them. There is always next year, and we’ll be bigger and better, and we will reach out and help our local businesses as best we can,” added Doherty.

Doherty says the decision came after consulting with the region's Medical Officer of Health and Kincardine's mayor.
