South Huron mayor concerned about people removing signs

The mayor of South Huron says staff had to replace signs at local parks after they were taken down.

The municipality had posted signage and caution tape at municipal playgrounds to highlight them being closed to the public. The majority of outdoor recreational spaces have been closed by the provincial government to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

But Mayor George Finch said because people were removing those signs, it created a hazard to the public and especially to children.

Staff have replaced the signage at the Crediton site three times in the past week.

Anyone who sees people removing the signs is asked to report it to the OPP using their non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122.
