Huron OPP investigate fatal crash near Brussels
Huron County Ontario Provincial Police, (OPP) and the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that took place near Brussels.
First responders were called to a crash on Newry Road (Huron County Road 16) and McDonald Line just after 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
A preliminary investigation determined that a single SUV was heading eastbound on Newry Road when it left the paved portion of the roadway and collided with the ditch. The vehicle rolled before coming to a stop upright in the intersection.
The driver and only occupant of the vehicle was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The driver has been identified as 21-year-old Sydney Dietrich-Illsley from Brussels. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place on Monday.
Newry Road remains closed between Victoria Street and Fischer Line to the east, and McDonald Line is closed between Brandon Road and Cranbrook Road.
