RIDE WELL now offers door-to-door service into Guelph

The County of Wellington has extended its rural transportation service, RIDE WELL, into the city of Guelph.

RIDE WELL will now complete door-to-door trips in Guelph that originate or end in Wellington County.

The ridesharing, rural transportation pilot program is funded by the Government of Ontario. It offers on-demand door-to-door transportation throughout Wellington County and now into Guelph.

Launched on October 1, 2019, the first six months of service-connected into the city of Guelph at two transfer points in the North and South of the City. From the transfer points, passengers could access Guelph Public Transit or an alternative transportation option to get further into the city. Following a six-month review of the current service, public feedback showed demand for door-to-door service into Guelph. This modification will eliminate the two City transfer points in an effort to provide a simpler, easier experience for passengers.

“This change will allow for more seamless transportation for those needing to travel in the Guelph-Wellington area,” said Economic Development Committee Chair George Bridge. “We want to make RIDE WELL easy to use for Wellington County residents and those needing to get into the County from Guelph.”

The County of Wellington partners with Waterloo-based RideCo to manage the digital booking platform and provide delivery of the program. The service is available from Monday to Friday between the hours of 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Passengers can book RIDE WELL trips in three ways: by downloading the RIDE WELL App, on the website www.ridewell.ca or by calling 1.833.900.RIDE (7433) from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
