Georgian Bluffs declares state of emergency

At 11:17 a.m., March 27, 2020, Mayor Dwight Burley, declared an emergency in the Township of Georgian Bluffs to assist in the containment of COVID-19.

This decision aligns with steps the Province of Ontario has taken in response to the pandemic.

“After consultation with our Emergency Control Group, it was decided the best course of action is to declare an emergency at this time.” stated Mayor Burley. “We are taking steps to protect our residents during this pandemic. I would encourage everyone to listen to the advice of Public Health officials and do your part to prevent the spread of COVID 19”.

The declaration of an emergency, under Section 4 (1) of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, 1990, allows the Municipality to use all available options to protect the health, safety, and welfare of its residents. The state of emergency is effective immediately and will remain in effect until further notice.

“In our new reality staff have shifted to working from home as much as possible to deter the spread of COVID 19” stated Anne Marie Shaw, Interim CAO. “We are committed to providing services as best we can for the residents of Georgian Bluffs. Please visit our website or call our office for information as to how residents can access services.”
