Stolen Car speeds by OPP cruiser

Grey Bruce OPP officers laid charges after a stolen vehicle passed an OPP cruiser at a high rate of speed.

On Wednesday, March 26, 2020, at 12:38 a.m., officers spotted a red car travelling on Highway 10 south of Grey Road 40 in Chatsworth, travelling at a high rate of speed. The car passed the cruiser and was located a short time later in a ditch on Concession Road 2. The airbags in the vehicle had deployed and the occupants had left the scene.

The driver was located on foot near an area residence and was arrested. Two male passengers were located walking on a nearby rail trail.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged the driver, a 19-year-old man from Haldimand County, with impaired driving, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000,

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on May 28, 2020.
