Huron County tourism to get revamped

Huron County's Economic Development Department has announced a plan to stimulate tourism traffic in the county.

Communications and Marketing Officer, Katie Marshall says they're focusing on four specific areas and they are collecting data on the people who visit Huron County, encouraging tourism operators to work more closely together, increase the Huron County brand and develop clear and consistent signage for visitors to Huron.

Marshall explains they want a better understanding of who comes to visit Huron County.

“We don't have a clear picture of what our visitors look like, how many are coming and what they're doing when they come here. So we want to get those numbers in order to help us promote the county further. The second issue is we want our tourism operators to work more collaboratively together to move the industry forward.”

“We want to help increase the brand and any coordinated marketing efforts around that. And we want to implement some clear, consistent signage that helps visitors feel safe and helps them find their way around the county"' said Marshall.

Marshall says they've already starting working on some of those goals and they'll get started on the others as the tourism season gets closer.
