Second class takes up 'Clean Clinton' mantle

A second Grade 9 science class at Central Huron Secondary School has started mapping out its objectives for the Clean Clinton program this semester.

Science teacher Kirsten Durnin launched the Clean Clinton program with last semester's Grade 9 class and it was a huge success, both within the school and throughout the community.

Kevin Steinson, a member of this year's class, said a big part of their focus will continue to be the elimination of single-use plastics.

“Single-use plastics, they're bad cause you only use them once and after, they just go to landfill and they just build up and up and up and they're just there," said Steinson. "We want to get rid of them and we don't need them anymore.”

He added they're not necessary anymore. Getting rid of them is just a matter of changing bad habits and finding substitutes and there are substitutes available.
