Huron County group to discuss future of cycling

The Huron County Cycling Committee is partnering with the Share the Road Cycling Coalition to host a Ready to Ride Huron two workshops this week in Blyth.

Huron County Cycling Strategies Co-Chair, Laura O'Rourke, explains they're nearing the end of their original three-year strategy and looking forward for the next one.

O'Rourke says they will cover several topics.

“I think there will be conversations around safety, different infrastructure opportunities and some aspects around how we can better promote our cycling tourism and what the opportunities are within Huron County are for cycling.”

O'Rourke says cycling is becoming more popular in Huron County every year and they've taken advantage of that by consulting with the cycling community in updating their maps.

“We have some new cycling maps that will be released in the spring, with some different recommendations about what routes might be safer or more pleasant rides for people coming in to the county or people within the county that are looking to get out as well.”

The Ready to Ride Huron workshop will be held March 12th at the Blyth Memorial Hall. There will be two sessions. The afternoon workshop will go from one till four and the evening workshops will go from 6:30 till nine.
