Secondary Plan in the works for the village of Bayfield

Senior Planner, Denise Van Amersfoort says they now have a committee ready to start work on a secondary plan for the village of Bayfield. The secondary plan will inform council of what residents want Bayfield to look like ten, fifteen and twenty years from now. The names were announced at this week's Bluewater council meeting.

“We have fourteen members of our committee and we'll be holding our first meeting in March to, kind of, get the ball rolling and then the community can expect to hear more about time lines for public consultations and get more of a sense of what they can expect in the next year in terms of the plan's development,” Van Amersfoort said.

Bayfield residents responded enthusiastically to a request to volunteer for the village's secondary plan committee. Senior Planner, Denise Van Amersfoort says she had 45 applications and she had to narrow that down to fourteen committee members.

“There's gonna be some really different formats for consultation, the community can expect things like Jane's Walks, we're gonna do some plants with Lego at the local library, focus groups with stakeholders within the community," she said. "The goal really is we want to hear from as many people as possible.”
