Time to vote on possible names for new Stratford school configuration

The Avon Maitland District School Board is looking for input after collecting possible name ideas for the new configuration of Stratford Central and Northwestern schools.

Members of the Stratford Transformation Committee (STC) spent January and part of February, collecting possible name ideas from staff, students, parents, and community members.

The committee met last month to narrow down the list for the elementary and secondary school names.

Two names for the elementary school and two names for the secondary school were presented to the Board of Trustees at the February 25 meeting, and the trustees also decided to include legacy names.

The choices for the elementary school are Stratford Intermediate School, Stratford Central Intermediate School or Festival City Intermediate School.

Possible secondary school names are Stratford Secondary School, Stratford Northwestern Secondary School and Stratford District Secondary School.

The public can respond to an online or hard copy survey until Tuesday, March 17, 2020.

Over 600 students, 150 staff members and dozens of parents and community members contributed to the ideas via email and/or face-to-face consultation.
