Local long term care facility to get upgrades

Revera is planning to re-do their long term care home in Hanover.

Their operating license with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) was set to expire in 2025, however, their proposed plan they brought forward to town council on Tuesday will extend that into the future.

Hanover Mayor Sue Paterson said council is pleased to support Revera.

"This new building with the additional beds will support our aging population, and we're looking forward to having seniors and their families age together in the same community."

Revera is planning to build a 128-bed long term care facility on a 5.5 acre property on Durham Road near the Hanover and District hospital, and construction should begin this spring.

A final cost has not yet been released.
